Altoona Police are warning city residents about a phone scam.
The department received a complaint on Thursday from elderly man who said he got a call from someone claiming to be his grandson. The imposter said he needed money wired to him in Cancun Mexico due to an emergency.
Police are asking that anyone contacted under similar circumstances refrain from providing any personal or banking information over the telephone.
