Councilman Says Act 47 Will Mean Higher Taxes

As the financially distressed city of Altoona continues down the Act 47 road, officials just don’t know how it will all play out.

There is one thing that seems to be crystal clear though and that is somebody’s is going to feel their pockets getting lighter.

Who that will be came up Tuesday on WRTA’s TWO Way Radio as host Dave Barger addressed that issue with City Councilman Dave Butterbaugh.

Butterbaugh says with the schedule the Act 47 coordinator has come up with it’s going to be tough trying to get a new budget in place on time.

Even with all the headaches dealing with schedules and deadlines, Councilman Butterbaugh says going “distressed “was the city’s only option.
