The reason is that the Penn State Altoona Homecoming Parade takes place this evening.
Danielle Fry, Director of Student Life at Penn State Altoona tells WRTA News the parade is going to be a lot of fun.
Fry says the theme of the parade is “A Night of Honor and Pride”
Here is the parade route and road restriction information posted by the City of Altoona.
The Parade will start forming on Chestnut Avenue between 11th Street and 9th Street at approximately 5:00 p.m. and will step out promptly at 6 p.m.
Beginning at 5:00 p.m. Chestnut Avenue between 9th Street and 12th Street will be detoured to 13th Avenue.
11th Avenue from 12th Street to 16th Street will begin shut down at 5:00 p.m.
The Parade Route is as follows:
Chestnut Avenue & 9th Street to Green Avenue
Green Avenue to 12th Street
12th Street to 11th Avenue
11th Avenue to 16th Street where the parade will disband.
