Horner Request For New Trial Denied

A convicted murderer has been denied his request for a new trial or modified sentence by a Blair County Judge.

President Judge Jolene Kopriva filed the ruling Wednesday in the case of Nicholas Horner, the Altoona man facing two consecutive life terms for murder. The judge said that she found nothing that "shocks-the-conscience to warrant an abrogation of the verdict."

It was in April of 2009 when Horner killed 19 year old Scott Garlick during a robbery at the 58th Street Subway sandwich shop. 64 year old Raymond Williams was also killed during Horner’s flight from the scene of the robbery.  He was convicted in March of this year.
