Patient Receives Tainted Injection at Altoona Facility
The Pennsylvania Health Department says a patient has contracted fungal meningitis from a facility in Altoona.
The patient reportedly received an epidural steroid injection at Allegheny Pain Management in Altoona in July and is currently hospitalized and receiving treatment for the illness.
The shot was produced by the New England Compounding Center in Massachusetts and was recalled in September.
Over 200 people in 14 states have been infected by the contaminated shots and 15 people have died.
Meningitis is an inflammation of the membranes surrounding the brain and spinal cord.
I would've just posted this on Facebook, but Facebook doesn't allow you to post GIFs (like this little animation).
Maybe the $1.1 BILLION price tag isn't so crazy?
