Altoona Police are investigating an attempted abduction that occurred Tuesday.
 
A 13 year old girl reported that a man attempted to abduct her while she was walking to school along 7^thAvenue near 17^th Street around 7:30 Tuesday morning.
 
Detective Matthew Starr says that an investigation involving numerous leads is underway.
 
23 year old Brian Lawrence Jr. has been identified as a person of interest in the case however he has not been charged in connection with the attempted abduction. At this time Lawrence is under arrest for technical violations while being supervised on State Parole and Probation.
 
While the investigation into the attempted abduction continues, anyone with information regarding the incident is urged to contact Detective Starr at 949-2489.

Police are also reminding residents to always be aware of their surroundings and alert for suspicious people around them. In addition, students walking to school should make every effort to walk in groups.
