State Experiences Rise in Unemployment



Pennsylvania's jobless rate rose again for the fourth straight month in September.
 
The State Department of Labor and Industry says the unemployment rate rose to 8.2 percent from 8.1 percent.
The national unemployment rate is 7.8 percent.
 
On a positive note, the state experienced the biggest monthly jump in hiring since February.
 
Payrolls rose by nearly 18,000 jobs in September, as education and the professional and business services sectors showed sizeable gains.
