Liquor License Transfer To Altoona Approved By Council
In a time when Altoona is facing major financial troubles, it appears someone has an optimistic view of the city’s future.
Suresh Mekala is a Chicago area business man who wants to transform the rundown Triangle building downtown into a sports bar and restaurant. He got a little help from city leaders last night when they approved transferring a Snyder Township liquor license to the city for the project.
The renovation of the building will also include eight new apartments.
At a public hearing held before last night’s council meeting some local businessmen voiced opposition to the transfer of the liquor license citing potential problems with parking and crime.
Councilman Dave Butterbaugh cast the only vote against the transfer of license.
I would've just posted this on Facebook, but Facebook doesn't allow you to post GIFs (like this little animation).
Maybe the $1.1 BILLION price tag isn't so crazy?
