Red Cross to Open Shelters



The American Red Cross is preparing to assist state residents.
 
Officials with the American Red Cross of Central Pennsylvania are opening 17 shelters for those displaced by the storm.
 
In Blair County, a shelter is being opened at Altoona Junior High School on 7th Avenue at 3 o’clock this (Monday) afternoon.
 
According to the Red Cross, as many as 60 million people in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast could be impacted by Hurricane Sandy.
 
More than 100 emergency vehicles are also mobilizing to the area with ready-to-eat meals and blankets.
