Residents Urged to Prepare for Hurricane Sandy

Sunday night Governor Tom Corbett gave an update on the state’s ongoing preparations in anticipation of Hurricane Sandy and urged residents across Pennsylvania to brace themselves and prepare for the impact of the storm.

Corbetts update came during a media briefing at the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency headquarters in Harrisburg.

Corbett said he sent a letter to the president requesting a presidential disaster declaration, which would provide federal funding so that the state and municipalities can take life-saving measures.

The governor also urged citizens to stay inside once the storm hits.

State officials are also reminding residents that if travel can’t be avoided during the storm specific information about any major state road closures will be available by calling 511 or by going to www.511pa.com.
