Valley Rural Electric Line Crews Restore Power To Nearly 4,000
A second straight day of effort by Valley Rural Electric line crews brought the number of power outages down more than half, to 1,938, from a peak of more than 6,000 early in Tuesday morning.
Wind and rain from Hurricane Sandy caused service disruptions across a widespread area. However, throughout the day, the rate of repairs outpaced new reports of outages from members. Valley teams repaired a transmission line that runs from Puzzletown to Blue Knob, Blair County.
Todd Ross, Valley operations manager said that as of late Tuesday afternoon the number of Valley outages in Blair County was 119; 252; Huntingdon County.
Valley’s response team is comprised of crews from all three Valley districts, Huntingdon, Shade Gap and Martinsburg, plus 12 power line construction and right-of-way clearing crews contracted by Valley and a crew each from co-ops REA Energy out of Indiana, Pa., and New Enterprise Rural Electric out of Bedford County.
Valley members experiencing an outage are asked to contact the co-op at 800-432-0680.
