Shuster Easily Secures Another Term

Ninth District Congressman Bill Shuster easily won re-election on Tuesday.

The six-term incumbent faced a challenge from Mercersburg independent Karen Ramsburg. Shuster secured 73-pecent of the vote to Ramsburg’s 26-percent.

Rambsurg tells WRTA News she joined the race late and gave it her best shot.

Ramsburg – a registered nurse – challenged Shuster as a Democrat write-in candidate during the spring primary. The 51-year-old Shuster was first elected to Congress in 2001, replacing his father, Bud Shuster.
