Vigil Held in Support of Fire Victim, Family

A candlelight vigil was held last night to show support for the family of a toddler who lost his life during a recent fire.

Three year old Darrel Etchison Junior was killed in the fire last Thursday at his 113 South 2nd Street home. Police believe 62 year old Aaron Dishong of East Freedom set fire that also injured Darrel’s mother, 33 year old Brandy Etchison, who managed to escape the blaze with her two-year-old daughter Madison but remains in an induced coma at a Pittsburgh hospital after suffering severe smoke inhalation and other injuries.

Dishong is facing homicide, attempted homicide, arson and related charges.

Police believe Dishong set the fire to harm an ex-girlfriend that he assumed was staying at the residence.
