Changes Possible For Operation of Penn State Law Schools

Penn State University's two law school campuses in State College and Carlisle are pursuing plans to operate as separately accredited campuses by 2015.

Dean Philip McConnaughay says Gov. Corbett and Cumberland County commissioners opposed the university's original plan to end first-year law classes at the Carlisle campus in light of sagging law school applications nationwide.

Corbett spokeswoman Janet Kelley says officials are reviewing the new plan

Penn State completed a merger with the Dickinson School of Law in Carlisle in 2000. A $25 million state grant in 2008 to upgrade the Carlisle campus came with the caveat that programs would remain there through 2025.
