Additional State Forest Roads Opened for Deer Hunting Season

More accessible areas and expanded hunting opportunities await hunters when they head into state forestlands for today’s start of the traditional two-week white-tailed deer season.

More than 400 miles of roads normally closed to hunters in
18 of our 20 state forest districts across the state will be opened.

More than 90 percent of all state forestland will be within one-half mile of an open road during deer season.

Throughout the state’s big game seasons, which run into January, hunters will find more than 3,000 miles of roadway open in the state forests.

Hunters should contact district offices in advance for up-to-date information.
