A committee is preparing to study elementary schools in the Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown.
Fourteen committee members were recently appointed by Bishop Mark Bartchak to ensure the future of Catholic education and have been instructed to consult with school personnel and parents on a host of educational issues.
The committee is expected to report their findings to Bishop Bartchak in the spring of 2013.
Officials with the Diocese say the Bishop was pleased with the current state of the schools during a recent trip and say the study is not aimed at discussing any potential future elementary school closures.
