Status Conference Scheduled In Lasser Assault Case
It was following graduation ceremonies this past June at Tiger Stadium in Hollidaysburg when the vice president of the school board was allegedly assaulted by a retired local business man and former teacher.
The case against Byron Lasser takes another step in the process this week as a status conference will be held Wednesday.
A plea agreement is a possibility for Lasser, who witnesses say grabbed Darlee Sill by his jacket and was charged with aggravated assault. Since the incident involved a public official performing his responsibilities as a school board member state law led to the charges.
Lasser’s attorney is hoping to have the charges reduced to misdemeanors as there appears to be some question as to whether leaving a graduation ceremony constitutes a public official performing his duty.
We’ll have more on this story throughout the week.
