An Altoona man who went on a 12 day burglary spree late last year was sentenced Tuesday in Blair County Court.
Judge Elizabeth Doyle sent 53 year old Harry Roland to state prison for 16 to 36 years.
Roland had been charged in connection with the burglaries at seven homes in Logan, Freedom and Tyrone Townships from December 22, 2011 to January 3, of this year.
Chief Deputy District Attorney Wade Kagarise indicated that the stiff sentence was appropriate in light of Roland’s extensive criminal record which included prior burglary convictions.
In addition, Kagarise applauded Logan and Freedom Township Police as well as State Police for there investigative efforts saying that he felt it was clear that Roland would have continued to commit burglaries had law enforcement not acted as quickly as they did.
