A Logan Township man was killed Wednesday evening as he crossed a roadway to get his mail.
 
84 year old Domenick Ventre of 793 East Sixth Avenue Road was pronounced dead at Altoona Regional Trauma Center about 30 minutes after being hit by a car while he was the road in front of his home.
 
Police say the driver of the vehicle involved in the accident did apply the brakes. The car’s windshield was smashed and the driver suffered minor injuries.
 
It’s not clear if any charges will be filed.
