Area School District Receives $10,000 Grant

The Tyrone Area School District is being awarded $10,000 through a grant from the America’s Farmers Grow Rural Education program.

The Monsanto Fund is investing $2.3 million in rural education across 39 states through the program.

Monsanto Customer Outreach’s Linda Arnold tells WRTA News the program gives farmers the opportunity to nominate their public school district to apply for a merit-based grant to enhance math and science education.

Arnold says after a three-tier grant review process the Tyrone Area School District was selected as one of 7 winners in Pennsylvania.

Arnold says Tyrone Area School District faculty, local farmers and Monsanto representatives will participate in a check presentation ceremony at the school district’s Board of Education meeting on Monday.
