According to a national advocacy group for gay and lesbian public officials, Pennsylvania State Rep. Mike Fleck, who over the weekend disclosed that he is gay, is among the country's first sitting Republican state legislators who is openly gay and currently the only one in office.
 
Prior to speaking to the newspaper interview the 39 year old Fleck went to the Gay & Lesbian Victory Institute for advice on how to come out.
 
Fleck represents a conservative district between Altoona and State College.  He was re-elected last month to a fourth two-year term.
