Casey Unveils Legislation to Extend Payroll Tax Cut, Give Employers Tax Credit For Hiring

U.S. Sen. Bob Casey used a teleconference Wednesday to unveil his legislation that is an extension of the 2% payroll tax cut for all of 2013 and includes of a Small Business Tax Credit that would be available to companies that increases payroll or hires additional workers.

He urged inclusion of the provisions in any agreement reached to avert the “fiscal cliff,” a combination of expiring tax cuts and government spending cuts scheduled to take effect automatically Dec. 31.

A chart provided by Casey shows the average worker in Blair County earns $25,402 and will lose $508 annually if the payroll tax cuts are allowed to lapse.
