State to Debate Potential Legalization of Marijuana
Some Pennsylvania advocates of legalizing marijuana say citizen votes to do so in Washington and Colorado could help their cause.
State Senator Daylin Leach says he intends to sponsor two legalization bills in the next legislative session.
During the last session, he sponsored a bill that would have allowed the use of marijuana for medical purposes, but it died in committee.
The Montgomery County Democrat says the growing list of states that allow at least limited use of marijuana will prove wrong the "horror stories" spread by its foes.
Republican Governor Tom Corbett, however, says he'll veto any legalization bill, even if it covers only medical use of marijuana.
Spokesman Kevin Harley says Corbett believes that pot is a "gateway" drug and its use should remain a crime.
