A charity event planned by the Johnstown Tomahawks for today isn’t going to happened.
The Johnstown Tomahawks announced yesterday that the first annual Johnstown Tomahawks Charity Classic has been cancelled due to the recent tentative agreement reached between the National Hockey League and the NHL Players Association for a new collective bargaining agreement. The event was to benefit the Pittsburgh Kids FoundationHaiti and the Johnstown Tomahawks Foundation.
Johnstown Tomahawks President Rick Bouchard says the team was advised by the Pittsburgh Penguins' players participating in the charity event, that upcoming training camp and insurance concerns over potential player injuries contributed to the decision to cancel the game.
Fans can receive a full refund beginning on January 14th from an authorized ticket outlet from which the tickets were purchased.
