Al Pacino To Play Paterno In Sandusky Scandal Movie
Film legend Al Pacino is reported to be playing the role of Joe Paterno in a movie about the Jerry Sandusky scandal at Penn State, according to Deadline.com.
“Happy Valley,” the working title of the film, will be directed by Brian De Palma, according to Deadline.com. The movie is based on Joe Posnanski’s book “Paterno.”
Paterno, who at 85 died from complications related to lung cancer nearly one year ago, was a central figure in the Sandusky child-sex abuse scandal in which the former assistant coach was charged with abusing 10 boys for years and sometimes on the Penn State campus. He was sentenced in 2012 and is serving what amounts to a life sentence in state prison.
The Louis Freeh report commissioned by the university’s board of trustees alleged Paterno and other administrators were aware of the allegations against Sandusky and even concealed facts, and did little to stop Sandusky from molesting boys.
