As a result of discussions with the Blair County District Attorney’s office, the Altoona Police Department has filed charges against an 18-year-old Altoona man in connection with the fatal shooting of an Altoona teen last month.
The young man, who was 17 years old on December 26th when 16 year old Jesse McElhinney was killed, has been charged as a juvenile.
McElhinney died when a handgun the two were playing with discharged. Police say the accused brought the gun to McElhinney’s 125 East Third Avenue home.
The charges filed in the case include involuntary manslaughter, aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person, theft of movable property, receiving stolen property and a minor not to possess a firearm charges.
