Following news earlier this week that certain pay raises handed out to Altoona Area School District administrative staff were being questioned comes news that the Pennsylvania Auditor General's Office is conducting an audit of the district.
No other details have been released at this point.
In addition to the investigation by the state, District solicitor Dave Andrews is also looking into the issue.
It was at Tuesday night’s School Board meeting that Board President Ryan Beers provided documentation of questionable pay hikes given to seven administrative staff members.
According to Beers, there were at least seven instances from 2007 to 2010 where non-board authorized raises ranged from several hundred dollars to in one case, $10,000 for a Confidential Secretary.
Beers says the trail of information seems to lead back to the Superintendent’s office. Superintendent Dennis Murray did not attend this weeks meeting and has declined to comment to WRTA news about the matter.
I would've just posted this on Facebook, but Facebook doesn't allow you to post GIFs (like this little animation).
Maybe the $1.1 BILLION price tag isn't so crazy?
