Icy Plunge Generates Money For Charities

Dozens of Penn State Altoona Campus students took part in a really cool fundraiser over the weekend.

And by really cool, what we mean is down right frigid.

Around 85 brave souls participated in Penn State Altoona Alumni Society's first Winter Plunge held Sunday at Canoe Creek State Park.

The event raised money for the society’s scholarship program and the university’s THON event.

The money raised will go toward scholarships and THON.

Each participant chipped in at $50 for the privilege to jump into the frozen waters of Canoe Lake as emergency personnel stoop by.

School officials say corporate sponsorships alone generated about $10,000 for the event.
