The Altoona-Johnstown Diocese, the Third Order Regular Franciscans, and Bishop McCort Catholic High School should all be preparing for civil action, according to an Attorney involved in the case.
As early as today the three entities, along with the Youngstown, Ohio diocese could receive a notification of a coming civil lawsuit on behalf of victims allegedly abused by Franciscan friar Stephen Baker.
The nature of the case, now working it’s way through the Cambria Court System, is negligence.
Brother Stephen Baker allegedly abused students at McCort in the 1990s and, previously, at John F. Kennedy High School in Warren, Ohio, through the mid-1980s. He worked at the schools as a teacher and athletic trainer.
