Superintendent Murray Brings On Attorney In AASD Raise Issue

The situation concerning the possible improper pay raises at the Altoona Area School District continues to make news.

District Superintendent Dennis Murray now has an attorney as he faces allegations that he may have had a hand in salary increases given to some administrative staff without board approval.

The issue came to light during the last school board meeting at which board President Ryan Beers revealed he found evidence that pointed to the questionable raises dating back to 2007.

An investigation by school district attorney Dave Andrews has been initiated.

Superintendent Murray, who has been mum on the matter up to this point as he recovers from shoulder surgery, now, says he wants to get his side of the story out.  Murray has indicated he wants his legal fees paid for by the district but it is the district’s position that it is not liable for those fees, at least not at this point.
