DEP Awards IRC $250,000 for Recycling, Composting Efforts

Blair County’s Inter-Municipal Relations Committee is getting a $250,000 grant from the state to help pay for composting and recycling efforts.

Director John Frederick says a large portion of the money will be used to fund equipment that’s used to screen compost at two of the county’s composting sites. Frederick says with ongoing state budget cuts he’s thankful the DEP still funds environmental programs.

Portions of the money will also be used for programming and outreach efforts. The DEP awarded more $17.8-million in grant dollars to 131 municipalities for their recycling efforts.

I would've just posted this on Facebook, but Facebook doesn't allow you to post GIFs (like this little animation). Maybe the $1.1 BILLION price tag isn't so crazy?
