Small AAJHS Fire Under Investigation

A small fire Tuesday forced the evacuation of the Altoona Area Junior High School.

The incident happened around 10:50AM in a girl’s restroom near the building’s athletic facilities. District spokeswoman Paula Foreman says the smoke set off an alarm and some maintenance workers quickly reacted.

Damage was contained to the restroom. Investigators have not said how the blaze started. Students returned to classes shortly after 11:00AM.
