Good news if you’re a customer of Penelec – the electric provider said Thursday that consumer power bills are going down again.
It’s the fifth consecutive quarter that the company will lower its rates. Residential electricity will decrease from 7.07 cents per kilowatt hour to 6.98 cents. A company spokesperson says that means an average customer should see their monthly bill drop by about 1.5-percent.
The company says the decrease is possible because natural gas is abundant and that weighs heavily on the cost of electricity. Penelec currently serves more than 600,000 customers across most of Central and Western Pennsylvania.

Maybe the $1.1 BILLION price tag isn't so crazy?
