The Blair County Commissioners on Tuesday agreed to begin seeking bids from contractors interested in demolishing the former Russo Building. Commissioner Terry Tomassetti says the building is a major public safety issue.
Early estimates put the cost of the demolition at around $250,000 – money that’s not in the current budget. A major fire at the site in August caused part of the building to collapse. Napoli Recycling of Brooklyn is the registered owner of the property.
They have not complied with any request by local officials to remedy the situation.
