The Cambria County Coroner’s Office has identified the man killed early Wednesday morning in Portage Borough.
Coroner Dennis Kwiatkowski says 32-year-old Michael Pawvlek was walking between two sets of railroad tracks when he was struck by two Norfolk Southern train engines traveling westbound from Altoona. The incident occurred near the Jamestown Street crossing and State Route 53.
A Norfolk Southern spokesperson says the company doesn’t know yet how fast the engines were traveling. Kwiatkowski says toxicology tests are pending.
