A state prison inmate has been charged with making a 2009 bomb threat that forced the evacuation of the Altoona State Probation and Parole Office.
State Police arrested 32-year-old Daniel Albert Lopez on Wednesday and say that he made the threat via a letter sent to the building that stated a bomb would explode. On December 17th in 2009 the 7th Street office and several surrounding businesses were evacuated until bomb sniffing dogs assured the area was cleared.
Lopez has been charged with aggravated assault and three counts of making terroristic threats. He was arraigned on $100,000 cash bail and remanded back to SCI Frackville with a preliminary hearing set for Tuesday.
State police say the investigation into the bomb threat conrtinues.
