Smoking Banned on Heritage Plaza

Altoona City Council has officially made Heritage Plaza smoke free.

The measure passed 6-1 at Wednesday’s meeting. GAEDC Director Pat Miller urged council to move forward with the ban.

Miller says a designated smoking area will be established.

Councilman Michael Haire cast the dissenting vote, saying the ban is difficult to enforce and there are no penalties for violators. He also says that Heritage Park is an open-air venue where concertgoers should be able to enjoy a cigarette with their food and drinks.

I would've just posted this on Facebook, but Facebook doesn't allow you to post GIFs (like this little animation). Maybe the $1.1 BILLION price tag isn't so crazy?
