Official: Street Closure Won't Be an Inconvenience

Altoona City Council has introduced an ordinance to close off part of a city street to allow a business to expand.

The ordinance would vacate a portion of Oneida Avenue between Logan Boulevard and Kittaning Lane.  Councilman Bruce Kelley says The Gingrich Agency needs the space for parking and possible building expansion.

Kelley the impact on motorists will be minimal.

The business has agreed to fill the space in, plant grass and install a sidewalk. A final vote is expected after a 30-day waiting period.
