Reliant Senior Care of Philadelphia submitted the winning bid of $16.5-million. The county had four final offers ranging from $14.5-million to $16.5-million. Commissioner Terry Tomassetti says Reliant operates more than a dozen homes across Pennsylvania. He says the company plans to retain most employees.
Reliant agreed to operate the home as a geriatric facility for 10 years – and to keep the independent living wing intact.
The vote to sell the home was not unanimous as Commissioner Ted Beam cast the dissenting vote.
The county will retain ownership of the AYSO soccer fields.
The deal is expected to close June 1st.
