Roadwork Begins on Route 764 Ahead of Culvert Replacement
Roadwork begins today along State Route 764 in Altoona – its all in preparation for the Mill Run Culvert replacement project. Most of the work will be done at the intersections of 6th and 7th Avenues at 31st and 32nd Streets.
PennDOT says the modifications are necessary to reduce Route 764 to a single lane in each direction so work can begin on the eastern portion of the Mill Run Bridge structure. The existing center concrete mountable curb islands will be removed and will also be re-paved.
Restrictions will be in place at 31st Street as well as at local businesses. Delays will be likely and motorists are advised to allow extra time or to seek alternate routes. Work on the $1.8-million project will be completed by December 2013.
