County Workers Participate in Active Shooter Training
Some Blair County Courthouse workers are learning how to protect and defend themselves.
Sheriff’s department officials are organizing the Active Shooter Response Presentations, which got underway Thursday. Officials say their goal is to make sure county employees know how to properly defend themselves if a shooting incident should ever occur at the complex.
Even though the training effort is underway, Sheriff Mitch Cooper told employees at the courthouse that current security protocols make the building a very safe place to work. The Commissioners are also in the process of moving the Sheriff’s Department to the first floor, where several officers would be able to quickly respond to an emergency situation.
Officials say several more demonstrations will be held in the upcoming months.
