Blair EMA Planning Major Transportation Disaster Exercise

Blair County Emergency Management officials are planning a major disaster response exercise that will focus on the regions transportation routes.
EMA Director Dan Boyles says the May 1st tabletop drill event will involve everyone from firefighters to hazmat crews to PennDOT representatives. He says the idea behind the drill is to give first responders a chance to handle a potential disaster scenario.
He says the focus remains on transportation issues because that’s where Blair County is most-vulnerable.
Boyles says a disaster on a transportation route could cripple the local economy financially. The exercise will cost $20-thousand and is being funded through a grant.
