Former AASD Soccer Coached Arraigned on Sex Abuse Charges
A former Altoona Area School District assistant girls soccer coach has been arraigned on sex abuse charges.
Kyla Hollingshead turned herself into police on Monday at the office of Magisterial District Judge Todd Kelley. Hollingshead was charged Friday with sexually abusing two AASD students.
The issue surfaced at Monday’s AASD Board meeting when a parent questioned what was being done to educate employees about how to handle sexual assault matters. Acting Superintendent Dr. Mary Lou Ray addressed the matter saying all teachers, administrators and support staff will receive training the summer.
Hollingshead – a 2007 graduate – resigned from her position in March. Her attorney Steve Passarello says they plan to aggressively fight the charges.
