A Logan Township fire company will get some new breathing apparatus thanks to a federal grant.
More than $164-thousand is being awarded to the Lakemont Fire Company by the Department of Homeland Security Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program. The money will be used to purchase nearly two-dozen new air packs.
The AFG program has been around since 2001 and it routinely allows small, rural fire departments the opportunity to purchase everything from emergency vehicles to the gear they need to stay safe while on the job.
