Woman Sentenced to Prison for Restraining Grandson
A Blair County grandmother will spend at least 60 days behind bars for using scarves to ‘hog tie’ her 5-year-old grandson.
President Judge Jolene Kopriva also sentenced 49-year-old Evelyn Himes of Duncansville to spend three years on probation. Himes entered a no-contest plea with prosecutors in order to settle the assault charges and for endangering the welfare of the child. She was arrested in March of 2012 following an investigation by state police – who found red marks on the child’s wrists.
Hime’s grandson was placed in foster care following the accusations. Troopers say Himes hog-tied the child when she left to receive treatment at a local methadone clinic.
