A former Altoona Police officer will spend the next 11 to 23 months behind bars for his role in a bar brawl nearly three years ago.
Judge Timothy Sullivan also sentenced Duane Eichenlaub on Tuesday to four years probation and 100 hours of community service. A Blair County jury convicted Eichenlaub in January on aggravated assault and conspiracy charges.
Eichenlaub and former Altoona Police officer Eric Kriner were indicted by a grand jury after evidence showed they assaulted two men in the bathroom of an Altoona lounge following a disturbance. Kriner entered a guilty plea with prosecutors that kept him out of jail.
Eichenlaub’s family had asked the judge for leniency. Eichenlaub must report to the Blair County Prison by June 14th to begin serving his sentence. He remains free on bail.
