Blair to Spend $16,000 to Connect Digitally With Police Departments

The Blair County Commissioners will spend $16,000 to interface the county’s new Computer Aided Dispatch system with four local police departments.
Carla Dosh is the county’s 911 systems administrator. She says the new the new CAD program doesn’t support the old database or software that’s currently in use. Dosh says officers in the City of Altoona, Logan and Allegheny Township and Hollidaysburg Borough rely on the data to track and preserve the history of their service calls.

Dosh says without the interface, the reports would be faxed to the departments and the data would need to be manually entered. County leaders call the expense a necessary safety measure. The new 911 CAD system should be up and running by the end of July.
