Inaccurate Data Skewed Information In AASD Pay Raise Investigation
Altoona Area School District Superintendent Dennis Murray apparently didn’t do anything wrong in connection with pay raises he gave himself over the years.
At Monday’s school board meeting it was announced that new information has revealed that the Philadelphia law firm hired by the district to investigate pay raises given without board approval made a mistake in their calculations.
A statement read by council for the district blamed electronic spreadsheet formulas for the inaccurate information.
Murray, who is retiring at the end of the month, was collecting a salary over the past two decades which was around $7,000 less than the minimum salary he could have been paid based on his contracts. His current salary is $182,607.
The school board wanted to use last night’s meeting to set the record straight.
