Five Furloughed At Claysburg-Kimmel, No Tax Increase In HASD

Property owners in the Claysburg-Kimmel School District need to brace for a 2.5 percent tax increase.
That is a result of the $10.7 million dollar budget for 2013-14 the school board passed last night.
Property owners aren’t the only ones being affected.  Five teachers will have to be furloughed. In addition, the district will need to tap into its reserve fund balance.
The tax increase is the maximum the district is permitted by law.
Meanwhile there is no tax increase ahead for property owners in the Hollidaysburg Area School District
A $43 million budget was passed last night by the board which will require a $457,000 deficit to be covered by the district's fund balance.
