Blair Closer to Hiring Consultant to Oversee Pension Plan
Blair County is one step closer to hiring a new financial consultant to help make financial recommendations for the county’s $34-million pension fund.
Controller Richard Peo tells WRTA News the county is in contract negotiations with Reliance Bank – who works with PNC Financial Services. The process has been in the works for months – and officials recently took proposals from several financial representatives.
Peo says he’ll be glad to have someone local that county can reach out to on a personal basis.
The county paid its last pension consultant about $77,000 per-year. Peo says having a good consultant is important because the county’s pension remains under-funded by several millions of dollars.
